Department Based Workflow

A lot of people ask about how to use Sitecore's Workflow and Security facilities to manage a site with multiple sections maintained by people in different departments.  This is very simple to do. 

As an example, we use the following requirements:

  1. The site includes a number of sections, one for each department (for example, HR, Product, and so on). Only members of the corresponding department may create and edit in each section.
     
  2. Each department has two types of users: 

    Editors - Create and edit content
    Content Owners - Approve and publish content
     
  3. A special user translates content to another language (in the prototype's case: Danish)

Select the link below to download a Sitecore package which contains a prototype which meets these requirements.  I recommend that you make a clean Sitecore 5.1.1.8 installation and install the package there.  The package includes a README which describes the solution.
